That boat is pretty sweet. He live near my Aunt in Silver Bay. From what I hear he can only use it before 6am and after 6pm due to the speed of it. Not sure if it is true or not though.

We were lagoon-hopping in Silver Bay with some guests on my boat this past summer (late August), and this dude got a kick out if firing up near us while we were no-waking. It was pretty funny....

I have seen him out in the middle of the day at tices and all so Watersedge. But I have never seen him in the evening like that great picture.

Look at the wake he left in the picture. He's welcome anytime. I took a bunch of great shots. It was pretty awesome when he opened it up in the bay.

How would you like that fuel bill?!?!?!... I live in his area - heard that he just bought Typhoon Marine facility off Kettle Creek so he'd have a secure place to keep the boat when he's not around - supposedly leasing back the business to Typhoon.

We keep our boat on Silver Bay and have seen him out many times.

Great to watch the "light show" at dusk. I have some clips that I'll try to finds and post for those who have never seen it.

Met a neighbor of his some years ago at a Japanese restaurant. The flames are from his for-show afterburner. He relys on a small outboard in a well and to get in and out of his lagoon. Supposedly goes in excess of 130-140 mph. If I recall correctly (the Saki and plum brandy were both flowing pretty well that night), its a GE jet turbine geared down to an surface piercing drive.
Several years ago he lit up his for-show "afterburner" very near the west end of the SSH bride one Sunday afternoon (I was skippering the LYC Committee boat NW of WPI) and ended up with someone calling the fire dept... who responded with acouple of trucks.

Don't want to give to many meaningless details but he was clocked at 178 mph on the Hudson in a poker run and may be capable of more.

he lives 2 lagoons down from our friends who live on silver bay road see him a lot around the 4th of july - i heard the boat can do 200 mph

That is nice, but it is quite annoying to get the stench from that thing blowing into the yard when it goes by Seaside.

He is one lagoon over from us and you definetly can smell when he's out. I'm glad he's not in ours. He often lights them up on the lagoon. I know his neighbors really appreciate it when he does that! I don't know about the 6 to 6 thing. He's out in the afternoon with it. I agree with the rod holder statement. Can't catch fish on a boat like that.

I would love to sit down and buy that guy beer all night. I have so many questions. How much fuel does he carry? How much fuel does he burn? What type of fuel does he burn? How fast does he go? How long does it take him to get from the Seaside bridge to the inlet? Does he notify the Coast Guard when he is out? Coast Guard must get calls all the time when he's running up and down the bay. And one last question. CAN I TAKE A RIDE? Next day after he sobers up of course.(lol)

Someone told me he uses kerosene but I think in a turbine you could use regular gas, disel, jet fuel, etc.

I am not sure if this is the same boat or not, a few years ago during the night of lights on Forked river some clown and I do mean clown was up river with a jet turbine boat lighting up the night sky in very close quarter with moored boats around .. the marine police ended up escorting him out of the river cause he kept firing up the after burners, loud, smokey and very smelly. neat to see one time but the capt got really carried away with it, the friggin thing sounded like it was going to blow up.

My father used to work with a guy who has been on that boat. The day he was on it they were doing 120 down the bay and he said the shoreline was flying by. I also heard it can do around 180-200 mph. He has to have special props for that thing flown in from Sweden. They are 3k a pop and he only gets like 6 hours of usage out of them.

Cool boat, saw them and Barbed Wire racing a couple weeks ago. No high-speed offshore vests or goggles while going that fast...not too smart.

people like that ruin your day fishing on the bay. cool to look at though he cut rite through a group flukers instead of going around

yea, I was gonna put jet engines in my grady white but thought i might have trouble keeping the cedar plugs in the water at 180 mph.

That boat is named Jet-Set. He has run out of Goose Creek for as long as I have lived here(10 Years). 2 years ago he got the fresh paint job that really updated the look of the boat. Always waves to the kids and gives them a show. That boat turns like it is on rails and a very reliable source said he has been clocked at over 180MPH during a speed run...John

Last year when we were running home from coming in Barnegat Inlet after a trip to Olley's we got to see them chasing Barbed Wire up and down the bay. Both unbelievably fast, they would go from just out of site from the North of us to out of site South of us in seconds. Didn't really hear Barbed Wire as she was running but before we saw either one you heard the roar of the turbines on Jet Set well before she came into view. I had two buddies on board that used todo a lot of offshore races and they put them at about 140 that day.
