I remember years ago nobody wanted the Ling, only the whiting. Does anyone catch Whiting anymore?

Good day out...! Ling have turned out to be one of my fav dishes, esp fried ling sammaches!

I've never froze ling, I hear that they turn mushy after freezing....can anyone confirm/deny this?

Nice catch Ed. I love bottom fishing in the summer. Congrats!

Paul - I love eating ling, but I always eat it fresh. The meat is delicate so I never freeze it. When I have more than I can consume I give it away to my neighbors and friends. They are always happy to eat it.

Freeze the ling using a plastic container and fill it water. Add sea salt to the water prior to freezing and it will taste fresh and remain firm. Be sure to cover all the ling with the salt water.

When asked where did we catch the fish, it's always in the same place, the lip.....
