BARNEGAT FISHIN’ HOLE BRAGGING RIGHTS TOURNAMENT

DATE and TIME: November 6 and November 7, 2010. Lines in at 5:00 am Saturday until Sunday at 4:00 pm.

ENTRY FEE: None

PRIZES: None. Winner will receive a $25 gift card from Sean at Play It Again Sports. Your photo with the largest striper gets posted on the Barnegat Fishin' Hole website and you can tell everyone you’re famous!

WEIGH STATION: Lacey Marine and Fish Bonz are the preferred weigh-in stations as they will have the official tournament ledger. Scales will be open from 7:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00am to 5:00pm.

WHERE: All boats (motor, sail or kayak) must fish Barnegat Bay or pass through Barnegat Inlet to the ocean and go no more than fifteen miles from Barnegat Inlet (for example; Cape May, Shrewsbury Rocks, Sandy Hook, etc. are not allowed). The idea is to give those with smaller boats or less time a fair chance at being the winner. Surf fisherman must also fish within fifteen miles of Barnegat Inlet.

RULES:
• All fish must be weighed in by the active Barnegat Fishin' Hole member that signs up on the website. I will post the final entrant list by 8:00 pm Friday November 5, 2010 on the Barnegat Fishin' Hole website.
• Heaviest striped bass wins - must be over 28” to qualify.
• Fish must be caught with rod and reel; you may use lures, wire line, live bait, dead bait, etc.
• Fish must be taken from boat (non-charter) or from the surf.
• In the event the fish is caught by boat, the Barnegat Fishin' Hole member does not necessarily have to reel the fish in but he or she must be on board when the fish is landed. If the fish is caught in the surf or by kayak, the angler must be the Barnegat Fishin' Hole member.
• All state and federal regulations apply.
• All contestants participate, fish and sail at their own risk!

These are the final results:
First Place: Capt. Jeff Evans - C Witch 21.6 pounds

Second Place: Capt. Scott Secor - Kimberly Ryan 10.6 pounds

Third Place: Capt. Dave Muller - Just A Fluke 10.23 pounds

Fourth Place: Mr. Hooper 9.8 pounds

Congratulations to Jeff (C-Witch) for coming up with the winning fish in not so great sea conditions. Photo will be posted later today. I think Jeff's new nickname will be Die-Hard.

I don't see a problem with fishing south in the bay. Try to go by the way the crow flies Mark. The goal was to prevent guys from going places that the smaller boats and those who don't want to spend $300 in gas for the day can't ever go like Sandy Hook, Montauk, Long Island, Shrewsberry Rocks, etc.

Thank you Lou. The seas do not look great, but I'm hoping it is fishable Thank you to Sean at Play It Again Sports for your generosity. I didn't ask anyone for a donation, Sean just offered. I also want to thank Jersey Joe for this website, without it I would have never been able to get twenty five other people interested in this tournament.

Sean,
I can see my son and I winning a cool $10 and $25 gift card as we'll be the only ones foolish enought to go. Hope we find one over 44lb, it would be our largest.

Ryan and I fished this afternoon. We got one fish, a 31 or 32" striper. Raced back to the dock, quickly unloaded the boat and headed to Lacey Marine at 5:40pm. Normally it is about a five minute ride by car. Today the power plant had a shift change and they basically closed Rt 9 for about fifteen minutes to let the workers cross the highway. We were two minutes too late. We will weigh the fish tomorrow. I guess the fish is about 13lbs.

As far as I know this IS the fish to beat. Anybody catch anything bigger?

Here's a picture:

I weighed two at Fishbonz today - skinny though one was 9.8 the other 9.3...they looked like twins so I brought both to check. Hopefully tomorrow turns out better for all of us...

Picked up another two today but not bigger than yesterday's two....looks like the 10.6 is the high fish so far but I think Just a Fluke has something to say about that based on the radio this morning...picked up two on the troll and one 14lb blue around the BB in 55' of water...trolling south it was a pleasant day, trolling north was a bit sporty...all fish caught trolling north...of course! Good job fishing this weekend guys, it wasn't the most cooperative weather...thanks for organizing Scott and Ryan. Fished with Striper Joe today to keep the crazy b&%%tard from going out there in his 17 footer!

I reached out to Fishbonz and Lacey Marine. As soon as I get the infomation from their log books I will post the results. As of this moment it appears that only four entrants weighed in fish.
